Cable Cap | 3D Printable Modular Storage System

About this project

We all have that drawer: overflowing with tangled charging cables, mystery cords, and backups of backups. The problem isn't just mess — it's that the cables you use every day have no proper home. Most organizers are built for things that stay plugged in; Cable Cap is different — designed to store, sort, and protect both daily essentials and 'just in case' backups. Cable Cap is a 100% 3D-printable modular cable organizing system: 4 modular sizes cover everything from slim USB cables to chunky power cords, each in two heights (5" standard, 6.5" tall). Units snap together like building blocks — stack vertically or line them up — while flexible slots hold cables securely, untangled and grab-ready, with labeling for clear sorting. Every model is optimized for FDM printers with minimal or no supports, plus an optional color-coding guide. Backers receive the complete STL set — print at home, in your favorite colors, and turn cable chaos into cable satisfaction. Launched in May 2025, it drew 1,669 backers and $70,891, around 7,089% funded.

Highlights

  • Print freedom: full STL set in hand — any color, any filament, literally print your cable organization
  • Building-block expansion: units snap together, stack vertically or line up, grouped by type, length or device
  • A home for 'just in case' cables: not only daily chargers but backups too — no more mystery cords
  • FDM-friendly design: minimal-support, easy-print geometry — download and go
