Sovol M1D IDEX Tool-Changing 3D Printer

Multi-color 3D printing's two established paths each hurt: single-nozzle color changes purge and clean endlessly, wasting filament, while AMS-style boxes wrestle with filament switching. Tool-changing is the third path — but it's been expensive and fiddly. The Sovol M1D rewrites that path with the DualX™ IDEX tool-changing system. One fixed extruder keeps continuous output reliable while a tool-changing extruder adds freedom, across 1+6 toolheads that each heat independently with preset temperatures. A patented motor-driven, all-metal auto-locking mechanism swaps toolheads in as little as 5 seconds with repeatable positioning, stable even at high speed. Dedicated toolheads per color or material mean fast switching and near-zero purge waste. Open source with auto calibration. Launched in July 2026, it drew 2,063 backers and about HK$25.42 million (roughly $3.24M), around 1,695% funded.
