BYD

The world's largest NEV maker, founded by Wang Chuanfu. BYD's in-house industrial humanoid program "Yao Shun Yu" was formally launched in 2022 by its 15th Business Division with central-research support and a 4,000-strong core R&D team. The 1.7m robot walks at 1.5m/s on two legs, carries a 50kg rated payload, and mounts a 4-finger 16-DOF dexterous hand plus LiDAR and 6D tactile sensing, sharing 60%+ components with its cars and over 80% in-house content. By May 2026 the prototype had reached generation seven with ~150 units trialing in Shenzhen Pingshan and Changsha plants at 80% human pick-and-label efficiency; 2,000 units were deployed in small batches in 2025, with a 20,000-unit internal target for 2026 and 50,000-unit annual capacity at its Xi'an robotics park.
