Founded by Zeng Yuqun in 2011, listed on the Shenzhen ChiNext board in 2018 (300750) with a secondary HKEX main-board listing in May 2025, CATL is the world's largest power battery manufacturer. It develops, produces and sells power batteries, energy-storage batteries and battery materials for passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, construction machinery, ships and aircraft. It runs 13 major production bases globally including Ningde, Liyang, Yibin, Thuringia in Germany and Debrecen in Hungary, with Ningde and Yibin recognized as WEF Lighthouse Factories. Customers include Tesla, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Toyota.
