Founded by Pete Florence, Andy Zeng and Andrew Barry from Google DeepMind and Boston Dynamics, Generalist builds a general-purpose AI model controlling robots in factories, labs and homes. To help AI understand the physical world, the company built thousands of cheap gripper mimics and distributed them globally, collecting 500K+ hours of training data. Its latest GEN-1.5 model lets a human demonstrate once (3-12 seconds) and the robot performs unseen new tasks. Cumulative funding US$540M.
