Walden Robotics

Spun out of the Toyota Research Institute, Walden Robotics builds general-purpose robots and the AI models controlling them. Its robots are deployed in factories and warehouses for repetitive physical labor. CEO Russ Tedrake, a senior MIT roboticist, says the robots use wheels instead of legs for safety and stability, and to leave room for bigger batteries and more compute, calling them pragmatic humanoids. Launched in January 2026, robots were running eight-hour shifts at customer sites within months. Cumulative funding US$300M.
