Frontend Slides: beautiful HTML decks, built by your coding agent
A coding-agent skill that shows three style previews for you to pick from, then builds a zero-dependency single-file HTML deck — and converts existing .pptx files with images and notes intact.
Frontend Slides is a skill for coding agents that turns "make me a good-looking deck" into a single sentence in chat — and produces a self-styled, single-file HTML presentation. No CSS knowledge required, and no npm, build step or framework.
It solves "I can't articulate my taste"
Most people cannot describe their design preferences in words ("make it feel premium", "not too flashy"), and whatever they do say usually comes back as yet another purple-gradient AI template. Frontend Slides inverts the order: show, then let them pick. It infers a vibe from your brief, generates three visual style previews side by side, you choose one, and it builds the full deck and opens it in your browser. The author calls it a "show, don't tell" approach.
Four capabilities
- Zero dependencies — the output is a single HTML file with CSS/JS inlined; copy it anywhere and open it;
- Visual style discovery — the three-preview flow replaces describing your aesthetic in adjectives;
- PowerPoint conversion — turn an existing
.pptxinto a web presentation: it extracts all text, images and notes for you to confirm first, then re-lays them out in the style you pick, losing none of the original assets; - Anti-AI-slop — the bundled styles (dark / light / specialty / Bold template pack) are deliberately distinctive and avoid the default generative look. Templates come from
beautiful-html-templatesand load progressively, so the safe presets still work as the default fallback.
Fixed 16:9, accessible semantics, well-commented code you can customize — positioned as a production-quality starting point for non-designers, not a one-off hero image.
How to use it
It ships as a Claude Code plugin, and the core SKILL.md can also be read by other coding agents with filesystem and shell access. Once installed:
/frontend-slides:frontend-slides
> I want to create a pitch deck for my AI startup
The skill asks about your content (slides, messages, images), generates three style previews, lets you choose a direction, builds the full presentation and opens it. Converting an existing deck:
/frontend-slides:frontend-slides
> Convert my presentation.pptx to a web slideshow
In non-Claude agents, point the agent at this repo or SKILL.md.
How it differs from the "generate a PPTX" route
The output is an HTML presentation, not a PowerPoint file. What you get in return: zero dependencies, a shareable link, and full control over the styling. What you give up: continuing to edit it through PowerPoint slide masters. If you need a natively editable .pptx, use a different toolchain — the trade-off between the two routes is clear, and no single artifact satisfies both.
