Meta VR Glasses: A 100-Gram VR Headset With the Compute in a Puck

Meta VR Glasses, unveiled at Connect 2026, are a glasses-form headset shipping in Spring 2027 for $1,299.99. At about 100 grams they are roughly five times lighter than Quest 3 because the headset itself carries almost no compute: battery and processors move into an external Puck you clip to a belt or bag, running the Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite and the same OS as Quest 3. The frame is magnesium alloy with passive cooling and open peripheral vision, so you can still see the real world to the sides and below. Each eye gets a 2412x2288 micro-OLED panel at up to 120Hz (37 PPD), making this Meta's first non-LCD headset since the original Quest, with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The trade-off is field of view: 70 degrees horizontal by 66 vertical, about 87 diagonal, well under Quest 3's roughly 110x96. Launch content includes Hologram, a photorealistic real-time self-capture persona that appears life-size to other VR Glasses users, and Beat Saber's Flux hand-tracking mode. Eye tracking plus foveated rendering are what let the smaller chip drive the higher resolution.
