Lymow One|Boundary-Free Robot Mower for Any Terrain and Size

About this project

Traditional robot mowers share three chronic complaints: buried boundary wires, wheel slip on slopes, and stalling in thick grass. Lymow One, from Portland-based Lymow, answers with a tracked, all-terrain mower aimed at large lawns and tough ground. Navigation uses RTK-VSLAM fusion, so there are no boundary wires — walk it along the edge once and it maps the lawn; when RTK weakens it seamlessly switches to vision, IMU and wheel encoders. Tank-like tracks climb grades up to 100% (~45°), with ~50 mm ground clearance to clear branches and bumps. Dual LyCut mulching blades span a 400 mm cutting width, driven by 6000 RPM brushless motors (300 W rated, 1200 W peak) that chew through dense grass, while a high-speed fan spreads clippings evenly as natural fertilizer — no cleanup needed. The 528 Wh LiFePO4 battery auto-docks and resumes where it left off, rain sensing guards the machine, and one mower maps up to ~15 acres, covering roughly 1.73 acres a day. Launched in October 2024, the campaign drew 3,415 backers and raised about $7.49M — ~24,961% funded, a standout result in the yard-robotics category.

Highlights

  • Wire-free mapping: walk the boundary once; when RTK weakens it seamlessly switches to vision, IMU and wheel encoders
  • Tracked climbing like a mountain tread: grips 45° slopes, clears bumps, branches and thick grass
  • Dual-blade mulching, zero cleanup: 400 mm width plus a high-speed fan spreads clippings as natural fertilizer
  • Built to last: LiFePO4 battery, 10,000-hour brushless motors, one-piece die-cast aluminum chassis
