About this project

Work is scattered across phones, browser tabs and paid subscriptions; every glowing screen breaks focus, and smart-home panels hide features behind annual fees and ads. A truly calm information display barely existed. TRMNL is a 7.5-inch grayscale e-ink panel: connect WiFi and pull in calendars, weather, stocks, news, sports scores, Home Assistant and hundreds more plugins — all free, forever. Open-source firmware updates itself over the air, and an 1800mAh battery runs 1–3 months between charges. Mount it on a wall or a desk, set it once, forget it. Launched in June 2024, the project drew 1,325 backers and raised $157,677 against a $5,000 goal — about 3,154% funded.
