ChompSaw: A kid-safe power tool for cutting cardboard

ChompSaw from Philadelphia's ChompShop is a powered cardboard cutter engineered with kid safety first. It solves a real pain point: children want to build with boxes, but scissors struggle with corrugated cardboard and craft knives are off-limits. ChompSaw redesigns cutting so kids can independently and quickly turn any box into whatever they imagine. The product champions cardboard as the cheapest, most eco-friendly maker material — once cutting stops being the bottleneck, makers of every age, family and classroom can create freely. Launched in September 2023, it raised about $1,175,102 against a $50,000 goal — roughly 2,350% funding from 5,049 backers.
