About this project

Carrying water is one of hiking's heaviest burdens, adding kilograms over multi-day trips. Oslo-based Vitaloop shrinks a water plant into a portable device: drop it into a lake, river or pond, or connect it to a tap, press one button, and its 5-stage filtration turns the water drinkable in about 45 seconds, fully automatic with no pumping. One charge purifies around 50 liters, enough for a small group's multi-day trek, with clean-tasting output. For camping, hiking and emergency prep, it replaces carrying water with finding it. Launched in October 2023, it drew 1,066 backers who pledged $158,580, 3,172% of its $5,000 goal.
