Camera backpacks live with a classic tension: professional when loaded with gear, but a military crate on your back the rest of the time. Urban creators need a hybrid — a camera bag at work, a commuter pack after hours. The Shimoda Urban Explore line exists for exactly that. Three sizes: 20L for minimal kits (body with 3–4 lenses + 14" laptop), 25L as the sweet spot (trinity of f/2.8 zooms + 16" laptop, fits under an airplane seat), and 30L for full kits (1–2 bodies with 4–6 lenses, meeting the strictest international carry-on rules). Rear camera access lets you grab the body without removing the pack, and details like the magnetic sternum strap clip carry Shimoda's outdoor DNA. Founder Ian calls it the pack he's wanted to make for years. Launched in November 2023, it drew 2,109 backers and $578,496, about 1,446% funded.
