About this project
Cloud drives hike prices and throttle speeds while privacy stays murky; DIY NAS builds are fiddly. Creators' libraries outgrow subscriptions and scattered drives alike.
IceWhale's ZimaCube is a cube-shaped personal cloud: six HDD bays plus four SSD slots scale to 164TB, a 12th Gen Core i5 drives Thunderbolt 4 and quad 2.5GbE networking for editing, backup and homelab duty. Private GPT runs LLMs on your data without leaving the house, and open-source ZimaOS with PCIe Gen4 expansion keeps tinkers happy from family archives to studio workflows.
Launched in November 2023, the project drew 1,252 backers and raised about HK$9,364,000 (~$1.2M) against a HK$78,000 goal — about 12,005% funded.
