ZimaBoard 2 - Hack Out New Rules

Home-server builders face a trilemma: Raspberry Pi underperforms, off-the-shelf NAS boxes are too locked down, and a DIY build demands cases, PSUs and assembly. Single-board servers are the third path — one board is one server. ZimaBoard 2 is IceWhale's second generation with a big performance leap, covering mini NAS, software routing, self-hosted apps, local AI labs, cluster scaling and even an AI home sentinel. The software layer is its moat: ZimaOS and CasaOS provide graphical deployment, letting beginners run Docker services with confidence. The first ZimaBoard started four years ago with 1,880 backers; since then ZimaBlade and ZimaCube have extended the line — one of the most active hardware brands in the self-hosting community. Launched in April 2025, it drew 2,149 backers and about HK$5.32 million (roughly $678K), around 10,645% funded.
