Holographic displays have long been 'amazing demos, missing products'. Looking Glass has pushed the boundary since 2014 with a community of thousands of hologram hackers, shrinking enterprise light-field displays down to consumer desktops. Looking Glass Go is their portable entry. Shoot a photo with any phone, and the blocks.glass platform uplifts the 2D image into a 3D hologram within seconds, delivered wirelessly over Wi-Fi — no modeling, no programming, no headset, just glasses-free holograms to gather around with family. Older archives can be converted into hologram streams too, and the app ecosystem includes ChatGPT-powered customizable holographic AI characters. The maker says it took hundreds of prototypes over nearly five years to reach production. Launched in December 2023, it drew 2,365 backers and $680,940, about 1,362% funded.
