Pro recording has always been bulky and pricey: large-diaphragm mics, interfaces and stands — podcasters, musicians and remote workers usually pick between size and sound. Firefly rebuilds the professional microphone on MEMS: an array of micro-electro-mechanical capsules achieves an 80dB signal-to-noise ratio the team likens to a Shure SM57, at pocket size. Onboard gain buttons tune levels live while an LED warns of clipping in real time, so creators, musicians, podcasters and remote workers get studio-grade sound without the studio rig. Launched in September 2025, the project drew 1,211 backers and raised about CA$151,000 (~$110,000) against a CA$10,000 goal — about 2,120% funded.
