FluxPose: An occlusion free 6DOF FBT tracking system

About this project

VR full-body tracking has long been trapped between compromises: base-station setups are pricey and space-bound, camera solutions fear occlusion, and inertial ones drift. FluxPose takes a fourth path — magnetic absolute positioning. A wearable beacon acts as a mobile base station generating magnetic fields that trackers use to know exactly where they are, delivering full 6DOF position and rotation. Because the beacon is worn on your body, the tracking volume moves with you — you never run out of space. Absolute positioning means no drift and no annoying recalibration, tracking is completely occlusion-free, each tracker lasts up to 24 hours per charge, and the form factor is the smallest and lightest in class. Attach a tracker to your headset and tracking spaces sync automatically; the system also serves gloves, controllers, robotics and DIY use cases. The campaign raised $4.54M — 1,891% funded — with 5,099 backers.

Highlights

  • Wearable base station: the magnetic beacon is worn on you, so the tracking volume follows you everywhere
  • Absolute positioning: Vive/Tundra-class positional accuracy without any lighthouse base stations
  • Occlusion-free: body blocking never breaks tracking — move freely
  • 24-hour battery + instant sync: attach a tracker to your headset and tracking spaces align automatically
