YASHICA FX-D: Your First Digital Film Simulation Camera

Wanting both film character and digital convenience used to mean carrying two cameras and two workflows. Film is expensive and slow to develop; ordinary digital cameras lack the ritual — when the shutter is too easy, photos feel less precious. YASHICA FX-D folds both worlds into one body. In Film Simulation Mode, six built-in film looks plus custom recipes (grain, white balance shift, saturation, contrast, sharpness, hue) channel the brand's analog lineage dating to 1949. The masterstroke is the functional film advance lever — after every shot you must fully wind it until it clicks before the shutter releases again, forcing you to slow down and be present. Digital Mode keeps modern speed and creative filters. The family spans FX-D 100 (13MP, everyday), FX-D 300 and S300 (50MP high-resolution), with the S300 adding an electronic viewfinder for full immersion. YASHICA set Asia's crowdfunding record with the Y35 digiFilm in 2017 and co-creates with its community once more. Launched in May 2025, it drew 1,923 backers and about HK$5.9M (roughly $753K), around 15,083% funded.
