The Keyboardio Preonic

Staggered keyboards force fingers to twist and reach for misaligned keys; split boards are comfortable but their learning curve scares people off. Keyboardio ships the beloved Preonic ortholinear board fully assembled: a 61-key grid keeps every key within easy reach of the home row for strain-free typing. Lower and Raise layer keys turn the right half into a numpad and the left into mouse control — a full 104-key feature set from 61 keys. Bluetooth and USB with one-touch device switching, open-source Kaleidoscope and ZMK firmware, and the Chrysalis in-browser tool for no-code remapping. Launched in July 2024, the project drew 1,198 backers and raised $239,759 against a $30,000 goal — about 799% funded.
