Let's queer the internet together with .meow

The money behind internet infrastructure rarely flows back to the communities that build their lives online. Domain fees go to commercial registrars year after year, while queer communities—finding identity and each other on the web—see none of it. The dotMeow Foundation's answer is a top-level domain of its own: .meow. This Belgian non-profit is applying to ICANN and pledges 100% of domain profits to LGBTQIA+ community infrastructure—grants for community spaces and archives, workshops and gatherings, advocacy and visibility work. Accepted into ICANN's Applicant Support Program, the team earns a 75%-85% fee reduction, cutting the application cost to roughly $34,500-$56,750. The €80,000 campaign target covers application fees, legal compliance and operations. Launched in December 2025, it drew 1,838 backers and about €122,000 (~$144K), around 152% funded.
