About this project

ZX Spectrum Next Issue 3 is the modern flagship of the retro-computing scene: the third generation of the 'modern Speccy', fully rebuilt on FPGA. Not a replica — it takes the 1982 machine that sparked a generation of coders and pushes it further with today's hardware: a larger Artix A7 FPGA plus Sinclair QL and Commodore 64 platform support. With 10,000+ units delivered across two previous campaigns, gen three keeps raising the bar. For 8-bit enthusiasts, it's a computer you can truly master, explore and modify. Continuing its community-built model, the campaign again funded far beyond its goal.

Highlights

  • Nostalgia, hardwareized: full Speccy compatibility with a massively upgraded FPGA core
  • One machine, many platforms: Sinclair QL and Commodore 64 support included
  • 10,000+ units delivered previously: a proven retro-computing series, not a pipe dream
  • Community-driven development: stretch goals and features decided with enthusiasts
