About this project
Looking Glass has spent years building holographic displays for enterprise, some as large as 86 inches. musubi is its first device made for the home: a holographic photo and video frame. The pitch is zero-friction conversion, no special capture rig and no 3D pipeline knowledge required. Upload ordinary photos and videos you already own through the free software, and a machine-learning algorithm reconstructs the flat media into full three-dimensional scenes; click Convert and they appear to float inside the display. The frame stores up to 1,000 holograms, loads them over USB-C in seconds, and needs no subscription and no cloud. Press the button and your moments play in a continuous loop, like a holographic mixtape. Under the hood sits Looking Glass' patented Hololumescent display technology, the same core used in its enterprise screens, and a secret menu of tools welcomes advanced users working with NeRFs, Gaussian splats and photogrammetry.
Launched in March 2026, musubi drew 3,009 backers and $423,762 — 4,238% funded.
