Online media keeps fragmenting: news, blogs, social networks, RSS, weather alerts and webcomics scattered across dozens of apps, forcing endless tab-switching — while algorithms decide what you see. The Iconfactory set out to stitch it all back together. Project Tapestry is an iOS app that unifies any publicly accessible web data — Mastodon, RSS feeds, blogs, microblogs — into a single strictly chronological timeline, with no algorithm deciding anything. The core architecture is data-source plug-ins: small pieces of JavaScript that translate between the native app and the rest of the web. A default set ships with the app, and anyone can build their own via a simple API — even a Raspberry Pi water-tank sensor can join the timeline. Posts you want to engage with open back in their native apps; the app supports iPhone and iPad, VoiceOver and dynamic fonts. The Iconfactory is the 25-year studio behind Twitterrific. Launched in January 2024, the campaign drew 3,369 backers and raised about $177.8K — 178% funded, with both stretch goals (filtering/search at $150K, bookmarking at $175K) unlocked.
